My story

　　With her slender build and demure demeanor, Mavis reminds us of a new-born fawn. Long, gangly legs, a willowy body and beautiful expressive blue eyes, Mavis is a gorgeous pup! With the help of her dog foster siblings, Mavis has setttled in comfortably in her foster home but she is still reticent and shy in new situation and meeting new people. Mavis does not display any aggression when she is uncomfortable, rather she seeks to remove herself from the situation. She is oh so sweet and affectionate with people and other dogs but it takes some time for her to feel safe. She will do best in a quieter home and someone who doesn't mind giving a young pup time to adjust. Helping Mavis master new situations and experiences will be essential for her confidence. 

　　While she is definitely a true-blue mixed breed pup, she appears to have a good amount of Retrieverand perhaps Shepherd in her. She was born on the Navajo reservation and saved by a local rescue just as the owner was walking into the shelter to relinquish her and her sisters. The shelter said the entire litter would be euthanized upon intake because they didn't have any space. We are so glad we saved Mavis! Her estimated age is around 5.5 months and weighs 18-20 lbs. She is the smallest in the litter and will likely be a small/medium adult.
