Maui's story
DOB: 4/4/11
******SPECIAL NEEDS*****
Maui spent years living on the streets, being looked after by a person who made sure he had water and food every day. When it was time for his care taker to move, Maui found his way to Kitten Rescue. This is a big, easy going cat who really enjoys hanging out and chillin' most of the day, especially with his stuffed toys. He is looking for a super special person to love and adopt him, because not only is he FIV positive, he also has asthma. We are getting Maui used to the inhaler. We hope someone will give this big easy going fellow a chance to have his own home!
Maui has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. If you'd like to read a much more detailed and comprehensive FAQ about FIV, we recommend this site.
