I have a Marx engine #490, coal tender and three other cars. It is labeled "Southern Pacific Line" and is O scale. The engine and coal tender are very clean and the engine runs strong. There are 15 pieces of curved track and 23 pieces of straight track. The track is a mixture of Marx and Lionel O gauge which may explain why there is such a large number of tracks. One of the straight pieces is the power connector track. Also included is a crossover track section and power transformer. Wire included to connect to track.
The power transformer is rated at 50 watts and never gets warm while running. Putting a large oval track on a 4X8 piece of plywood still leaves you extra track as shown in photos. The engine runs great on this oval setup pulling all cars. The plywood is not included with sale. Marx did not provide a reverse switch for this train set. Marx manufactured the 490 train set between 1962 and 1975.
Great Father's Day gift !
