Marty's story

　　Sweet Marty was found at a rural AL shelter as a shy, semi-feral stray with no story or family, but in the loving care of a Friends of Rescue foster, he has blossomed into to a brave and trusting dog who loves humans and playtime with his canine friends. Marty is about 1 year old and weighs 25 pounds. He appears to be a Terrier mix, and he has a gorgeous brindle coat with the BEST floppy ears! Marty gets along with ALL dogs - young and old. He's very submissive and worms himself easily into any pack. Marty LOVES taking hikes in the woods, and he's learning to walk politely on a leash. He's an active little guy who would like an active forever family.

　　Because Marty looks to our resident dogs for guidance and reassurance, we want him to be adopted by a home that has at least one other dog who can continue to show him the ropes and keep building his confidence. He will need a family who will allow him plenty of time to adjust to his new surroundings and be gentle and accepting of his shy nature at first. Because he won't be shy for long! Soon he will be totally in love with you and asking to cuddle on the couch and in bed.

　　Marty is house trained (with access to a doggie door), and he is learning about crate training, and rides well in a car. Marty is fostered on a horse farm in Huntsville, AL, and he is great with horses and even with the foster's pet pig!
