Marshall's story
Marshall is PHENOMENAL. Since coming to EAPL a few weeks ago...He is very social and friendly and good natured. He has already learned quite a few commands and his personality is winning. He hasn't bothered our cats, shares food bowls, is now crate-trained, and fully housebroken. He is about 6/7 months old (?) He is about 35 lbs. (he might get to be around 50.) The vet believes that he is some type of terrier mix. The transferring shelter said he was an Irish Wolfhound mix BUT our local vet does not believe so. Marshall was picked up as a stray and brought into the shelter by the public and no one claimed him. Due to his injury he was released to rescue as he needed medical care in a timely manner. His front left leg was broken at some point months ago. It pops out as he walks on it. Unfortunately due to the age of the injury (the shelter believes someone kicked him or dropped him as a puppy and broke his leg and never got it taken care of), two orthopedic surgeons have said it cannot be repaired at this point. It is being checked to see how the bone does as he grows. It does not give him any pain BUT the option might be in a few months to amputate his leg. If this is what has to be done EAPL will cover his surgery with our assigned vet. Marshall may never be a 14er climber, backcountry snowshoe or skier but he will be a wonderful shorter hiking, walking, exploring, loving companion, friend, snuggle dog for the rest of his life. Marshall is scheduled for his neuter and another x-ray for his leg. To talk more about Marshall put in an application at
