Mama's story

Mama possesses a quiet strength and grace. Before foster care, she and her family were living on the streets in Oakland. At first, Mama is shy but she is so eager for affection that even at vet visits, she strives to be cuddled. She doesn't meow and seldom makes any noise at all other than quiet purrs, and is wary of loud noises and fast movement so a household with no other pets and no young children would be best for her. Our dream home for her would be one that is willing to adopt her two remaining babies, Boo, and Birdie so that the family can stay together. She's very small for an adult cat and only weighs about 6 lbs. She is still tentative about being picked up but has learned to love being cuddled on a person's shoulder. She loves to be brushed and uses the scratching post faithfully. She has had a tough early life but now has the chance to be cared for. We've enjoyed watching her overcome her fears and lead with her heart of gold. What everyone notices most is how abundantly affectionate she is. I am surely biased but I think she might be the world's most perfect cat. Mama is completely litterbox trained.

Tailchaser Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs from shelters where they are in danger. Our foster volunteers provide loving temporary homes for our rescued animals until they are adopted.
By adopting a cat or dog, you're making a commitment to provide love, care, and medical treatment for the life of the animal, which can be up to 20 years or more! We are committed to placing our rescued animals with families who are prepared for the responsibility of owning an animal for its entire lifetime, so that they are never again at the mercy of the shelter system.
