Maltese - Coco Chanel - Small - Adult - Female - Dog

　　This sweet little girl is our little Coco Chanel! Chanel was a rescue from a Tucson home where she had been sentenced to live in the back yard with a Pit Bull after she peed on something belonging to the baby of the house. Chanel is very thin, has a sunburned nose and is now recovering in the loving arms of her foster mom. This little girl was originally under the guardianship of an elderly woman, who became ill and went to a hospital. The woman was very sick and never recovered enough to go home before she passed away. Chanel went to live with her grandson and his wife and child. That was over a year ago. Even with all of the abuse and neglect she suffered, she is a very happy, loving little girl. She just needs a little time to trust. One of the pictures above is from the day of her intake. She had not been groomed in all of the time she was with the grandson's family. She is doing well, but it will probably be about a month before she can go to a new family. Update 07/06/2012...Coco is doing very well! It has been found that she has a heart murmur that will need treatment for the rest of her life, but her doctor feels that she has a good future ahead of her. Coco is about six years old right now and with proper care she should easily have another six to eight years of love and laughter to share with her new family. She will have her teeth cleaned next week. We will also have the results of some additional tests to see if there are any other health issues that need to be addressed. Update07/18/2012...Coco went to a new home and did very well with everything except a larger dog in the family. She should probably be an only pup or maybe be with one other small dog. Before coming to RUFF, she had been living outside with a Pit Bull and had to forage for whatever food she got. She seems to be very protective of the human in her life. So Coco is back in rescue and would love to have a home of her own.
