My story

　　Maizey is a one-year-old black and white dalmatian who is looking for a home that is in need of some laughs! She was rescued from a neglect situation by a kind person who recognized that Maizey needed a little more one on one attention, which was when she was lovingly surrendered to Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado. Maizey has continued to bloom in her foster home and has thrown herself into learning so many new things. She has so much personality, keeping herself busy with chewing on bones, squeaking and destroying stuffed toys, and wrestling with her foster brothers. She is an extremely quick learner who thinks that learning is super cool, even if her teenager brain can distract her sometimes. She would make a pretty fun dog for someone to do rally or scentwork with. She has really lovely toy drive and approaches training with gusto and joy. She is learning how to be a polite dog and with consistency and some time to mature, will make an awesome adult. Until then, she does get a little excited and barky when she sees strange dogs while out on walks and has some frustration reactivity. She is getting much better at learning that it's more fun to get a treat and then go sniff instead. Maizey will need some support from her owners, but she has the tools to be able to succeed through her adolescent years. Maizey would thrive in a home that is able to provide 30+ minutes of time to run around, sniff and hunt while either on a flexi or in a large enclosed area 4-5 times a week. She loves people and loves to snuggle but does think that young children are a bit suspicious so she needs to be in a home with children that are 12+. She is great with dog-savvy cats and loves to play with other dogs, though she can be a bit of an annoying kid sister when she plays. She is good in her crate and has also settled well out of her crate, provided that she is given enough outlets for her energy. She is working on jumping up on people and on counter-surfing but is getting better and better at making good decisions. She is an absolute clown who would love to make your day a little sillier.
