　　  Meet Maize!UPDATE 12/14/21Maize is an adorable young spayed female cat who has been under ARWOB care since 06/2021 when she was rescued along with her nursing kittens. Since then, she has been in different foster homes, some with other cats/dogs, some with dogs, and some with cats only. She has been at our cat adoption center as well, but doesn't love being in a small room with other feline rescues. Maize is a very sweet, affectionate, social and goofy kitty who would be an excellent companion. Her ideal would be either a working adult or a family with children since she really enjoys human attention. She would also be fine in a home with cat friendly dogs. She is likely to ignore them as she is not exactly going to be a BFF to a dog, but can tolerate and be just fine around dogs once she gets to know them. Although Maize has lived around other ARWOB cats in foster there are some she is fine with and some she dislikes, but for the most part she does her thing and goes about her day. In the cat center its a different situation as she in a small room with several other cats and not a lot of room for individual space. She would probably be fine in a home with other senior cats who do their 'own thing' but she wouldn't be a great match if you are looking for a friend for your cat as she isn't really the type of cat to look into snuggling or playing around with other cats. Maize would be a great match for a family looking for a single pet family household as she has several funny antics and loving personality!Maize will be attending our last cat adoption event of the year on 12/18 and 12/19 so we hope you stop by and meet her OR submit an adoption application online to schedule a meet and greet in the 92117 area at a convenient day/time so we can get her home before the new year!   08/2021 Maize and her kittens were rescued off the streets in Tijuana and the rescuer contacted Arwob so she and her babies could be taken into rescue. She is currently in a foster home and has been in two different homes. Maize is currently in our cat adoption center at the PetSmart in Clairemont. Prior to that, she was with another adult cat who is an 'alpha' cat. Maize is a very social and loving cat who is very people oriented  and has lived with a dog as a foster. She could live in a home with another cat who is alpha over her, but Maize is not a cat to adopt to have as a friend for a current cat. She can cohabitate with other cats, but is not happy when they get too close to her. Maize is really interested in human companionship, but not cat friendship. She would, most certainly, be happy as an only cat in the home. Foster Update prior to coming to the adoption center: Although Maize hid for the first day or two in her new foster home,  she soon came out to meet everyone and be a part of the family. She loves getting petted and purrs when you pick her up and hold her, but only likes to be held for a few minutes at a time. She is a very sweet and extremely affectionate kitty. Maize likes toys and little balls; her favorite is the wand toy when a person plays with her. On her own, she sometimes gets the 'crazies' and runs all around the apartment and jumps into an empty cardboard box. She has now discovered the kitty condo and likes to climb up to the top level and take a nap. Maize loves to eat and whenever her foster dog sister gets a treat, Maize will come out for one too! She likes to sit and relax on her own, but if you call her over, she will come and sit near you so that you can pet her and talk to her. Maize is a social girl and likes to be around people, but sometimes likes to just relax on her own. She has gotten used to the large, gentle  greyhound dog in her foster home and doesn't play with or interact much with the dog, but she's fine living with her.
