I Want a Home for the Summer!
The Humane Society of West Alabama's "Home for the Summer" campaign aims to adopt out as many adult pets as possible this summer! During the month of June 2013, we've reduced adoption fees for all adult cats 1 year and older! Help us make this their best summer ever - by winning a loving family!

Please meet Martha, a beautiful gray tabby Maine Coon Bobtail. She's estimated to be a young adult around 3 years. Martha was dumped by her former owners in a small carrier. We aren't sure how long she was abandoned in the cramped carrier on one of our cold and rainy nights, but we do know she at least spent the night in there before someone found her! Terrible! This poor girl was taken to the vet, and checked out fine, thankfully.
Martha is a quirky and very friendly mild-mannered lady! She'd do well in a peaceful environment, but with lots of attention. She just eats it up! We've recently discovered that she likes to flop in front of doors and she rolls onto her back - she does it all the time! A little un-ladylike, but very silly! She is a funny little cat, and her stump tail is constantly wiggling! She follows volunteers all around our adoption center and is constantly winding around our legs. She LOVES people!! Martha seems to socialize well around other laid-back cats, but she's still a bit nervous around most cats - we believe she was never socialized with other pets. She'd be happy as an only pet, though bonding with another cat is still very possible. Martha should do well around older children, but we aren't sure how she'd handle dogs. Please stop in at our cat adoption center or contact us to meet Martha!
