　　Throughout this summer 2012, the Humane Society of West Alabama wants to increase my chances at finding my forever home by reducing my adoption fee! Email my rescue group or stop in to meet me!

　　The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

　　This is Francesca, a beautiful black and white Maine Coon mix girl. She's approximately 16 weeks old (7/23). Francesca has Maine Coon littermates, too, and her mother cat was a Maine Coon mix. Francesca is growing fast and is already a little big for her age, so we believe she might grow into size a little larger than the average domestic cat, but not as big as purebred Maine Coons. She's still a small baby, so it's hard to predict! She has a furry lion's mane, fuzzy tipped ears, a feathery tail and tufts in her toes and ears.

　　Francesca is the only kitten in her litter who has beautiful black and white markings! She has the cutest "pirate's eye" patch on her left eye! Francesca is playful, but a little calmer and quieter than her siblings. She isn't shy - she loves attention! Francesca loves to sneak up on someone and surprise them at their feet, and absolutely loves toys - especially toys that another kitten happens to be playing with! She hasn't learned how to share yet. Francesca loves being around people. Her cautious personality tells us she is not suitable as a playmate for small children - she needs to be handled gently. Francesca can be brave, like most kittens are. She loves to explore a new room or a new cardboard box to use as a kitty fort, but she's very cautious while in unfamiliar waters! So if she's getting used to a new environment, she'll need patience and time to relax and adjust to the new place. She'll be closely bonded with her new family and hopes they'll be there to protect her and keep her safe! Francesca is a sweet girl, she is very friendly and loves meeting new people, and will be an excellent new buddy! She would do best with other cats or with another kitten, since she's always been around other kittens. But we believe she would do great as an only pet, as well! She would love to eat up all the attention in the room! Francesca is a gorgeous lady who hopes to find her ideal new family!! Stop in at our cat adoption center to meet her!

　　Negative for FIV and FeLK and current on first set of kitten vaccinations. The final set (consisting of Rabies and Feline Leukemia boosters) is due three weeks from the date of the previous set.

　　Since Francesca is too young to be spayed, an additional $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption to reinforce state law for all shelter animals to be fixed before or after adoption - out-of-state adopters are not an exception to the law. The spay/neuter deposit is refunded later upon delivery of proof (a certificate or vet records) that the kitten has been fixed. Pediatric spaying/neutering is an option to discuss with your vet around 4 months of age.

　　Our adoption fee is temporarily reduced to only $50, a fee to help defray a fraction of vet costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care, and are not available for adoption until they are cleared by one of our trusted local veterinarians.
