Luna's story
Hi, Im Luna. Im nine years young and I am a shorthaired, red dapple dachshund. I got my name because I have a little blue spot on my eye (Luna means moon in Spanish). I love to lay on any lap, couch, bed, or chair. I really love feet
being near them, snuggling up with them, and being petted by them. My favorite spot to be scratched is behind my ears. I hate being bathed, but, I tolerate it quietly
baths or showers. Fireworks and thunder dont bother me at all. Im very protective of my family and I bark when someone knocks at the door or I hear a loud sound that I am not used to. I dont bark when I am outside in the yard because I am too busy exploring or basking in the sun.
I like other dogs as long as they arent too rough
I need a little space at first. I have been having fun playing with the other dogs in my foster's home. Little kidsnot my favorite. My mom decided she wanted to have a human baby and while he is mostly okay, his friends are the worst. My little brother and his buddies are the reason I am seeking a new, kiddo-free home. I am kennel trained. I prefer to call my kennel my house and respond when told: Luna, go to your house. I love my people and I get really, really excited when they come home. My perfect home is one where I am loved, snuggled, kissed, and able to watch TV to my hearts content.
A few months ago, I snuck out the front door and was outside for 20 minutes or so and was injured
possibly hit by a car. My front leg has persistent nerve damage. I regained some use of my leg, but my paw doesnt appear to be improving. I do well hopping around
sometimes I even get excited and run
but, I do get tired fairly easily when on a walk (still like walks though). The nice vet doctor said I have no pain in my paw and it should not bother me in the future. With not taking long walks now, I may have on an extra pound or two but a controlled number of calories will help me shed those in short order. I happily steal food that is left in my reach so, watch out. Luckily, one of my favorite snacks is ice cubes.
