My story
Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me. My name is Lucy and I am a senior Shih Tzu girl in search of my forever home.
I would prefer a home where my people are home the majority of the time as I need to go outside on a regular schedule
several times a day.
I am also blind and have a little difficulty hearing but once I am familiar with my home I explore the house looking for a cozy place to take a nap.
If you have stairs I will need you to pick me up and carry me outside to do my business and I love exploring the yard and sniffing all the smells - especially when it is sunny and warmer outside.
Because of that, I need a fenced in yard so I can freely roam and spend time outside.
Snuggling on the couch with my person is one of my favorite things to do while they are watching their favorite show.
I also love food and yummy treats and take them very gently from my person - I can always sniff out a good treat!
My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 4 hour periods.
-Children must be 10yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard.
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $150.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
