Lilly: 5-1/2 year-old female black Lab mix 90 lbs spayed
Background: Sweet Lilly is a survivor. A coworker of her current owners wife saw a car in front of them throw a puppy out the window as they were driving down the road. They scooped up the puppy but couldnt keep her, so Lilly went home with her current owner. Lilly lived an idyllic existence in Sonoma County having several acres at home to roam until the Tubbs Fire came along and Lilly, her owner, and his other dog barely escaped with their lives. Unfortunately Lillys BFF (best friend feline), who Lilly liked to cuddle with, was not so lucky and did not survive the fire. Lillys elderly owner has had difficulty finding rental housing that would accept two dogs. He has decided to keep his older 14 year old dog, realizing that she would be harder to place, and is sadly surrendering Lilly, hoping she can more easily find a great new home. GGLRR feels honored that her owner has entrusted us to find a loving new family for his cherished Lilly.
What Lillys owner says: Lilly is a sweet loving dog. She is very happy and energetic, and would benefit from more training and structure than she has experienced so far in her life. I truly believe that she is very bright and adaptable and that she would make an excellent addition to someone's family.
What Lillys Rescue Rep says: Lilly is a delightful girl. She loves playing catch with her frisbee and pretending thats shes a soccer goalie as you try to kick her ball past her. She was a little skittish when she first relocated to the Bay Area - suburban life was very different than her country home. Lilly would initially bark at strange dogs while out walking on leash but gradual acclimation (with lots of string cheese!) helped her realize that maybe things werent so scary after all and she now passes by other dogs calmly on her walks.
Lilly hasnt really been around kids much. She has lived with an older female dog but initially might do best in a home as the only dog to allow her to settle in. She has lived well with cats. She will chase deer.
Wed love to see Lilly go to a calm home with an active owner who gives Lilly time and space to take on new experiences at her own pace as she continues to adjust to all the recent changes in her life.
Medical Information: Spayed, microchipped, current on shots, on heartworm preventative.
Lilly is located in: Millbrae

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
