A very nice and unusual glass paperweight shaped as a bird sitting with its head looking forward while slightly tilted to the right and its tail pointed backwards. The entire bird is made of clear light blue colored glass. The tail shows feather details while the head shows eye and beak details. The bird has a round base, which keeps the piece stable and firmly in place. This is known as the bluebird of happiness. This is a nice paperweight.
Purchased in an estate sale. Product of USA.
The base is 1 3/4" in diameter. The bird itself measures ~3 1/2" long, 2 1/2" at its highest point, ~2 1/4" at its widest.
Signed Leo Ward 1987 on the bottom in cursive engraved calligraphy. It is difficult to read the signature but I promise you it is there.
The paperweight is in excellent condition and has no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs. It has a few small air bubbles dispersed within it. However, these do not distract from the beauty or quality of the piece.
A very nice and beautiful paperweight. Definitely a quality piece worthy of a prominent spot in your collection.
