Leo is a 2.5 year old probably a mini mix, but we are not sure.

　　He walks well on a leash and is well behaved.

　　He came from a foster family with kids ages 20 mo to 8 years.

　　He loved the kids and was fine with those kids, but he is very protective and the foster mom, while a wonderful person, was not firm enough.

　　Leo needs a firm leader who sets boundaries and firmly lets Leo know what those are.

　　Otherwise he will take matters into his own and nip towards people to make them stay away from his family.

　　He has been fine with us as a foster for the few days we have had them.

　　Leo weighed 29 lb

　　when he first came into rescue.

　　He is on a diet and should weigh about 20 lb.

　　He will chase cats and has pretty high prey drive.

　　The lizards in the yard are something to be watched and chased for him. But he is a delight and always so happy to see us and loves to be petted.

　　He is a happy boy that no one has taken the time to set boundaries with.

　　He does know a few commands

　　He has not been socialized much with strangers and does not know how to act.

　　But making him sit and stay when knew people are near has helped him here.

　　He will do best when someone is home with him much of the day and if he has another small dog to play with, even better.

　　Don't know how he is with larger dogs.

　　Applications in the immediate area are given preference and you need to be within a day's driving distance to come and pick up a dog. We do not ship our dogs. When you adopt a dog from us and for some reason it doesn't work, the dog be returned to VSGSR and a full refund is given with in the first thirty days. Any dog adopted from us at any time comes back to Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue if the adopter can not keep the dog. We are responsible for our dogs for their lifetime. And we hope our adopters are also. Each dog will have been neutered, had full panel blood tests done, been microchipped and up to date on all of his shots. We do prefer that you be within driving distance of Phoenix to adopt one of our dogs. If the adoption doesn't work out for some reason with in the first thirty days, the adoption fee is refunded upon return of the dog. Our contract states that during the life of the dog, should something happen that you can not keep any of our dogs, the dog must be returned to VSGSR. Should a family member wish to adopt the dog, they would be given first priority. We are responsible for our dogs for their entire life.
