My story

　　Leo is a sprightly and dashingly handsome 10 year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix). He is a distinguished gent who loves long neighborhood strolls and couch cuddling equally. Leo fancies himself a pro snuggler of ALL the human friends and he takes his role as the humans welcoming committee very seriously. He will greet you with a thousand kisses when you walk in the door and then climb in your lap and stay there contentedly for as long as you'll let him. Once the lap sitting is over, he'll happilly assist with the household chores and make sure you don't need any intermittent drive-by smooches to help keep you on task. Leo has impeccable house manners and has sweetest, most endearing personality.Leo does well with other pups and older kids, but needs a little time to fully trust them. He thinks tortoises are terrifying and that kitties are a little too interesting. True to his chihuahua roots, Leo does not always want to share his humans with the other resident pups, but this is easily managed and he's getting better every day about realizing that there is enough love to go around for all of the mutts. Leo lost his mom, who he adored (and she him), after she developed debilitatinig dementia, so his worries about suddenly losing his loved ones again are understandable. Leo thinks he has the health and vigor of a five year-old pup, though, he he does have a heart murmur, which is easily managed with oral medication that he takes like a champ. If you're looking for an entertaining and affectionate best buddy, Leo is your guy. If you're interested in adopting Leo, please fill out an adoption application here: https://underdogsrescue.org/adopt-form/Underdogs is a small volunteer-based animal rescue and we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to phone and email inquires about our adoptable animals at this time.
