My story

　　This beautiful girl is Layla! She knows sit, stay, lay down and comes to her name. She is fully house trained. She has an average energy level for her age. She loves playing fetch with her red Kong ball and gets the zombies when we get the ball out. She loves her humans including children as long as they are respectful. Layla is a cuddler to the max. She loves to curl up on the couch or bed with her people. She is 2 to 3 years old and weighs 55 lbs. Her family is needing to rehome her as she and the other female do not get along - both are great dogs - they just don't love each other.  Layla gets a 20 minute walk daily plus playing and running in the yard. Her mom uses a harness that clips to the leash in the front and Layla does well with it. With a collar she tends to pull more. She can be reactive on leash with certain dogs with lots of pulling and whining (very loud) if they are close enough. She is alone less than 4 hours a day. Some days not at all. When her family is gone she is free to roam the house. She occasionally grabs a shoe and brings it to snuggle with but no destructive behaviors. They don’t crate her although they did when they first got her and she learned to like it for short periods of time. More than and hour or two and she will start whining. She sleeps in the bed with her parents at night or on couch or dog bed. The other dog is a 7 year old female cattle dog/lab mix. Layla has a high prey drive to small animals including cats and squirrels.  Lays is absolutley fabulous with the 4 year old son!! They love each other and play together. He throws the ball for her inside (she gets distracted by smells playing fetch in the yard) and they run together in the yard. He has been taught to be respectful of the dogs’ space. She has been around older kids too and does great. Never any aggression towards people. We have been teaching her to not jump up on people out of excitement. She used to piddle out of excitement when we would come home or a new person was introduced to her. She doesn’t do it much anymore. Layla is awesome. She is very in touch with her human’s emotions and will come snuggle if her people are sad. She loves to be around her people and may whine if she is denied access due to doors being closed etc.. She knows come, sit, stay and lay down now. She listens well to direction and guidance as long as she isn't around other dogs.  She and the other dog are competitive with each other and Layla doesn't listen as well when they were around each other.  Other info from her parents - Layla really is a special soul and we are heartbroken to have to give her up. We just feel she would be happier as an only dog or with a male dog. Layla is a fence jumper! She had very long legs and is very agile. We had a 5ft chain link fence and she would jump over it right in front of us and go explore the neighborhood. We put her on a 20ft tether while supervised and she did fine. Here we have a 6ft wooden privacy fence and she cannot jump over it. Also, she will counter surf and will take food off of it if it’s left out but can be told “down” and she will stop.
