Landon's story
+++++++++++COURTESY POST+++++++++ Landon came to us like so many of our loves do, as a stray guy just wandering the streets of a big city all alone. Luckily one day, he walked out in front of the car of one of our supporters, who got him off the streets and into the safety of rescue where we promised him no more street life! Landon is a roughly 6-month old Heeler/Border Collie Mix. He is a medium sized boy at around 35 pounds right now, we think he?ll be around the 50-60 pound mark when he?s done growing. Landon is an active boy who loves to run and play! He is a hoarder of toys and lover of sunshine! He is a med-high energy dog, so his adoptive family should be prepared to provide him plenty of exercise. His favorite activities include going on walks, lay in the sun, play with his dog friends, and hang out with his foster family. He loves to go on adventures (especially if there are some drive thru fries involved), ride in the car, go on walks, but also loves a little snuggle time with his family. He would be best suited for a family that can ensure proper exercise and socialization. Landon currently lives with other dogs of all sizes (8 pounds through 80) and does great with them! He would be great as a solo dog or as a member of a new pack ? he has never met a dog he doesn?t love. He has not been tested with cats, but given his general disposition, we think he?d be fine with a kitty sibling if given a proper introduction. Landon has met and done great with kids and would make a great buddy for some kids who have been taught to be respectful of animals to grow up with. Landon is house and kennel trained, but he?s still working on his leash manners. Although he is an older pup, it?s important to remember that he spent most of his puppyhood on the streets, so he may need a little leeway as he acclimates into his new family and schedule. The best suited family will be one that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. Landon will be best suited for a family that can provide him with patience and positive reinforcement as he grows. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday. Landon is fully vetted and healthy. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He does not have any health or allergy issues that we are aware of.
