LANCE's story
Lance is a 10 year old Terrier mix who found himself with us after his owner passed away. Lance is house broken, comes when he is called and crate trained. He is a very sweet boy who loves to sit and cuddle on his persons lap, or take a nap under the covers. Lance does play with toys when presented with the opportunity. He does best with a consistent routine, so Lance is looking for a quiet home with no children and with no more than one other pet.
Lance is listed as special needs due to Diabetes which requires his feeding schedule be very regulated so he can have insulin injections twice a day. As a result of the Diabetes, Lances foster home also believes he has lost his vision completely. He may still see light, but he is otherwise blind. Lance has adapted very well to both his Diabetes and his loss of vision- he navigates around the house and on/off furniture without trouble most of the time. Lances blood sugar is regulated and, contrary to popular belief, his life expectancy is that of any other dog as long as he continues to receive the care he needs. His cost of care with his Diabetes would average out to be less than $35 a month, which would cover his insulin, needles/syringes, and his glucose test strips.
Due to his limited vision, Lance does not like to be startled as he cannot see what is coming his way; this is why we have listed him as needing a quiet home with no children and only one other pet. He has adjusted to living and even playing with his dog friends in his foster home, but it took some time for him to be comfortable with them. Lance has so much love to give and would love for someone to give him a chance at a forever home. His foster home is happy to answer any questions about his Diabetes care or any other inquiries you may have.
