Lala (Wasilla) Cockatoo Adult - Adoption, Rescue
Lala (Wasilla) Cockatoo Adult - Adoption, Rescue

Description

  Meet Lala the goffins cockatoo!

Lala is aproximately 25 years old. She comes from a neglectful situation and has been in foster for about five months.. Her previous dad passed away and her mom had a really tough time with it, so Lala and two other large parrots got less care. They were fed and let out, but the bird room they lived in was not cleaned for years, and they themselves had a very sedentary existence, living on a seed mix and not being maintained (no vet visits, overgrown toenails). The owner realized this was not fair to the birds and she relinquished them to the Alaska Bird Club.

Lala moved to a wonderful foster home and was very sweet. Then, a few weeks later, the umbrella cockatoo that had lived with her in the first home moved in. Lala's foster lady had made the decision to adopt her and her former umbrella cockatoo roommate!

...and Lala was NOT happy. She screams a lot, and she attacks the umbie. Now that she's been in her new home for a few months with a better diet and overall lifestyle, she is feisty enough for this to be a big problem. Lala's adoptive mom decided that, although she loves her to death, it would be best to rehome Lala. Since she has poured her heart into this little bird, she will be the one making the determination as to who can adopt her.

It has been decided that Lala would do best as an only bird, in a home that has experience with large parrots and can incorporate her right in the middle of the household where she can be part of the family. Please know that cockatoos can be very loud, so potential adopters need to take that into consideration. Apartments or homes with noise-sensitive people are probably not a good idea.

Lala comes with a cage (the black one pictured).

NOTE 1: Lala is an accomplished escape artist, as most goffin's are. You need to be as smart as she is to prevent this.

*NOTE 2: Lala has been taken to the vet and racked up some costs, so there is a rehoming fee.
