Sly's Story:
Sly is a 5 month old Lab mix who was on the euthanasia list at the county shelter due to having an upper respiratory infection. After being rescued and put on 10 days of medication he was feeling great but still very scared. It didn't take long before this little guy realized that he was safe and he opened up and become what I feel is probably the most well behaved and lovable puppy I have ever met! He is incredible with his 1.5 year old and 3 year old human foster brothers. He does not jump on them, is extremely gentle while playing with them, LOVES every second that they play with him and likes to cuddle with them as they sleep. There is a grumpy, senior foster brother pup who snips at Sly often and makes it a little hard for Sly to enjoy himself but that doesn't stop him. He has a very submissive personality. He allows the snips and NEVER attempts to snap back or even give a simple growl. He just does what he can to avoid the confrontation yet still be able to play and cuddle with the other pups and humans in the home! He loves his little 6lbs foster brother pups and is very gentle with them and he can switch it up and race around the backyard and playfully wrestle with his large foster sister as well. He just has a wonderful, wonderful temperament and love of life! He has that fun, playful puppy demeanor but he is not high strung like most puppies. He loves to play but he also loves his sleep. He prefers to sleep with his human and cuddle but will quietly sleep in his kennel as well. Sly can't get enough of his chew toys and balls. As long as he has these, he will leave all other items in the home alone, with the exception of a few curious moments of course. But once he is told "no", he immediately listens and stops whatever it is that you do not want him doing. He is mostly potty trained. He goes potty in the backyard but has an occasional accident in the house because he is still a puppy and still learning. But he is a fast learner. He has recently been standoffish with strangers who come into the home and gives a quiet grumble/growl and then runs and hides so a meet and greet will be required prior to adoption. I feel that this is because he feels that his foster home is now his forever home and that is his very submissive way of attempting to be protective of us. This baby doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body.
