　　Let's show Jack there is more to life than the streets of Tuscaloosa!

　　This big fellow is Jack, a one year old (4/12) male black Labrador. He has a beautiful shiny black smooth coat with a white chest. Jack is a good size dog, weighing 53 pounds and he may get a little bigger. Poor Jack was found by one of our volunteers roaming the parking lot of her office building which is right by the River Walk path downtown. He had been seen around there for about two months. So he needed to get off the streets before he got hurt. Efforts were made to try to locate an owner but no such luck on finding one.

　　Jack is a very friendly, fun dog -- of course, he is a lab!! But as with most labs, he is pretty high energy and will need lots of exercising to use up that energy. He is also an escape artist! He can scale a chain link fence and is not real happy to be left in a crate -- he manages to get out of that as well. But for him, we think it is all a game because he waits right there for you to come find him!!

　　Jack will need someone to help train and work with him as he matures into an adult dog. He plays well with other dogs but is just as happy having you all to himself! Because of his size, we won't adopt him out to a family with small kids who he might accidentally knock down. We are working on his crate training. Jack is up to date with his vet care, neutered and is heartworm negative. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Jack will make a wonderful companion dog and bring so much love and enjoyment to your life!

　　**********Update from foster home**********

　　Jack is doing very well in the foster home. He loves to be around people and will follow you anywhere you are in the house. Jack gets along well with the other dogs in the house and loves to chase toys in the backyard. He learns very quickly and learned sit and stay in a single afternoon. He is working on down and stay and his crate training is going well. He sleeps through the night without making a sound and is good in there during the day with only a little initial protesting. He is also house trained. Jack is definitely adapting to life in a house and is ready for his new forever home!
