Kona's story
Hello, I'm Kona ! I'm currently staying/foster in the San Francisco Bay Area. I know I'm going to sound like a cliche, but I love long walks on the beach (and in the ocean!), and spending evenings curled up with humans by the dog toy pile. When you get the leash out for an adventure, you will see that my tail has magical super powers -- it wags SO FAST that it turns invisible. I've been learning how to walk besides a human, though sometimes it's very hard because people just walk soooo slowly. I mean, how are they going to catch any butterflies or squirrels when walking at a human pace? A small nudge on my leash will make me pause and stop, but I know I need more practice time.
At home, I love playing with my foster brother dog; we wrestle for hours on end. When we're not wrestling, I like to wait until he's in the other room, then I take a nap in his dog crate. We share our toys very well, and can eat dinner together. When the humans have other human guests over, it's THE BEST THING EVER! I get so many pets and treats. And even better yet, I have learned that if I immediately flop onto my back, people will rub my belly, which is, by the way, the BEST THING EVER, you should try it! Sometimes, I fall asleep while I'm getting pet, but I make sure to wake up if they stop, and use my little nose to remind people of their duties.
I'm a quick learner. When someone asks me to sit, I usually do it pretty quickly (sometimes, I'm just too excited to notice). I also know how to give 10, lay down, and touch my nose to a hand. Oh, and I can look extremely adorable on command (just kidding, I do that all the time). When I am on a leash and see other dogs, I like to bark at them, but I do play well with them when I'm free to run around. I get very nervous on car rides and become a bit of a drool machine, but I've been learning that cars usually take me to the beach or the park, so I'm starting to relax some more. I think my forever home may want to work on this a little more with me.
I'm looking for a home where we can live happily ever after together. I'd love to have one or more humans to cuddle up with, and Id love having other dogs to play with, especially if we can wrestle a lot. I'd prefer to not be around the really little humans, they make me nervous when they grab my face. I also like to chase them sometimes, which I've been told is scary for the little humans. I have a lot of energy, so I really want a good yard and/or regular access to a dog park to run around in.
