***We appreciate your interest in adopting a pug in need. Please respect our process and our time, as we are all volunteers with full time jobs.
An application starts the process.
We are not able to answer calls with questions about the foster pugs. ***
Hi, Im Kolet, and I am 6 years old.
Foster mom says my best asset is my loving, sweet personality. I very much like to cuddle and crawl into your lap, or sometimes just drape myself across your thigh and listen to tv as you watch. I prefer to sleep on my humans bed at night rather than alone on the floor or in a crate.
I lost my vision last year in a case of SARDS - Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome.
Foster mom keeps my eyes moist with eye gel/drops and she wipes my eyes and face folds often.
I know how to use a doggy door and I have a very keen sense of smell and of hearing.
I listen intently for your voice as I locate a path in getting to you as you call my name.
Because of my blindness, I do require that you keep the house and yard as obstacle free as possible, and an unfenced pool is a definite no. I also wont see predators like coyotes or aggressive dogs, and without a fenced yard, I will curiously wander, oblivious to danger.
Because of this, if we go on leash walks (these are hard for me) it must be a very short, fixed leash (no retractables) and you must be ever vigilant.
I dont really play with toys any more; I just prefer to hang out with my humans and the rest of the grumble. I do enjoy being with other pugs, and I am ok with cats.
No young children please, as they scare me with their sudden movements and squeals.
I have an issue with struvite crystals in my bladder, so I eat a special prescription diet called Urinary SO to prevent additional crystals from forming bladder stones.
I am not allowed other types of food, and only special Urinary SO treats.
All in all, I am still young and full of life.
I would love to be your companion and best friend for many years to come!
***We encourage you to come to our adoption events to meet the pugs in person if you are interested in adoption. Again, please do not call regarding the adoptable pugs.
APARN is an all volunteer non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter. Our dogs are currently being fostered in private homes generally located throughout the greater Phoenix metro area.***
