My story
Koko came to A New Leash on Life after her owner passed away. Her world was turned upside down because she was so bonded to him.
She went through several days of decompression in her new foster home. She growled and bared her teeth out of fear and confusion when approached. She would also bark at any "stranger and mostly stay in her open crate that came from her previous home.
She was allowed to decompress at her own pace, and she started following her foster humans around the house. She responded to positive praise and treats. She started to prance around, play with toys, and wanting to be by your side, not necessarily pet, but by your side.
Flash forward a couple days later, Koko now enjoys sitting in your lap and snuggling in bed with you. She smiles and wags her fluffy little tail as she throws bones up in the air to herself!
She currently lives amongst dogs and cats. She does well most of the time, but she sometimes chases the cats. She does great going outside to use the bathroom, but she did have a couple of accidents her first few days in her foster home. She is continuing to grow every day, and she's such a trooper!
