Kiwi the green cheek conure's relinquishing owner says:
"Kiwi is a DNA sexed male GCC. I adopted him through PetCo rescue. He'd been given up due to biting the kids in his former home. Kiwi is approximately 5 years old.
I have discovered that he does not like and is very stressed out by other birds. Before i got other birds, he was calmer and much happier snuggling on my shoulder while i watched TV, or hanging out with me while i did housework. He's become much nippier and reactive living with other birds in the bird room. Kiwi needs to be an only bird where he can interact with his family and get lots of out of cage time. He loves foraging boxes and shredding paper. He's not a chewer and does not care for wooden or hard toys. He loves bells too!
Kiwi eats pellets and little seed for a treat. His favorite food is Nutriberries and he gets one every night at bed time. He also loves red peppers, apples, snap peas, chicken, and pretty much anything bird safe that you are eating/drinking. Kiwi is on a 6pm-6am sleep schedule and is kept in the bird room and covered at night. The room is kept at 69 degrees and i use a humidifier almost daily. Kiwi says one word "Kiwi" and he says it in many different ways, depending on what's going on and/or his mood. He's received his vet care at Hillside Pet Clinic and his vet has been Dr. John.
Kiwi has a large cage and various toys that will come with him.
Given his tendency to bite or nip to get his way, i do not recommend him for kids.
He is a wonderful little bird and i would love for him to find a calm and loving environment where he can again be calmer and more content."
