We are the original purchasers of this chair. Since we have moved into a home that doesn't have a living room, there is no place for it, so we have decided to sell it to someone else who appreciates the finer things.
The Philadelphia Easy Chair with hand- carved, solid Mahogany legs is a reproduction, circa 1750, from the Winterthur Museum in Wilmington. The Ottoman has matching legs. The newer version of this chair only has the front legs hand carved. I think you will agree that having all four on both the chair and ottoman makes a beautiful statement.
Like many of the finest Queen Anne-style chairs made in Philadelphia in the mid-18t h century, this one features backward-raked arms made of two scrolls, one vertical and one horizontal, which meet to outline a flat C-shaped scroll. The arm must be hand carved by Kindel craftsmen to accurately reproduce this C scroll. Also, it has an Ultra Down seat cushion.
This Wing Back Chair is upholstered in crewel fabric on front, as is the entire Ottoman. The side and back are done in the base color.
We contacted the Kindel factory about repairing the damage done by the cat (who is no longer a resident). They said that it can be repaired to like new for between $400 and $600. There are local Kindel dealers who can also help with the repairs. The value of this set, if in perfect condition, is between $1,400 and $2,800. Since we have no where to put it, we felt it best to let the next owner repair or re-upholster it to their liking. New, this set could cost many thousands of dollars done with this fabric.
We are asking $380 for the pair and will consider any REASONABLE Offer.
