My story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Kate! She is a 4 year old Cavalier King Charles mix that came to us as a breeder release. Kate is 29 pounds of pure love. We believe she is the mother of both Grace and Galena. What Kate is mixed with we do not know for sure. She does have short little legs and will be an amazing companion for just about anyone. She loves to follow her mama all around the house. Kate can't get enough of the snuggles and has the most boopable nose! She is just the sweetest girl with an amazing personality.
Kate has not been in rescue long, but she has already figured out so many new things. For instance, she loves to longue around on the couch. The second she can, Kate will run into the living and jump up on the couch. There she will stay for as long as you let her. Kate also enjoys watching TV. Yes, she actually will sit on the couch and watch TV. She seems to enjoy all the holiday movies currently on. Kate also loves sleeping in the big bed. She will curl up next to her foster mama all night. Kate will share the pillow with her mom. Kate has to be as close as possible to her face. Kate typically will sleep all night in the same position, but if she does have to go potty Kate will give her mama some gentle kisses to wake her up. If you don't wake up, Kate will find a place to go though. She is still working on her house training. Kate knows what to do when she is outside but you have to let her out and leave her out long enough for her to go. Kate does have a fenced in yard at her foster home, along with other dogs to follow, and that has been very helpful in her adjustment into a home. If you don't have a fence, it may take some extra time to help Kate get the hang of pottying on a leash. Kate will walk nicely on a leash and is excellent in the car.
Kate has also learned that she likes to play with "toys". Her favorite being socks. She doesn't know what to do with the socks, but will walk around with them in her mouth as though they are meant to be there. We are hoping that in time she figures that out as well. It's always fun to watch the breeder release dogs, learn how to truly be a dog. Kate gets along great with any dog. She has been known to climb into a doggy bed and snuggle in with the smaller dogs. She tends to follow the bigger dogs outside. She will run with the other dogs in the backyard. Again, you can tell she isn't sure why they are running, but Kate will follow along because "Why not? It's fun!". Based on her demeanor, we think Kate would be fine in a home with cats, and children over the age of 5. Kate can be a little shy when it comes to meeting new people. When you initially reach to pet her, Kate will pancake to the ground. As soon as you start petting her under the chin, she will stretch her head up and give you kisses. She is very gentle, even when taking treats from you.
Kate wants to continue to learn new things and explore the world around her. If you think you can provide her with the love and nurturing needed to help her blossom into the best Kate she can be, make sure you apply today. You won't be disappointed.
Kate is now spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
