My story
Meet Kalea!
This sweetheart of a dog was adopted out over the summer as a younger puppy, but was recently returned for not getting along with the resident dog :(
She is approximately 1 year old and her DNA shows she is American Bully, American Pit Bull Terrier, Cane Corso, German Shepherd, and Shiloh Shepherd.
She is full grown and about 40-45 lbs, so she's not a large dog.
She has a lot of the Shepherd personality traits, so adopters with herding dog experience would be best!
Kalea likes playing with other dogs and has a best friend in her foster home that she does great with!
However, she can easily become over stimulated and when that happens, she can get into scraps with the other dogs.
We have found she does best one on one with another dog playful, but easy going dog - she is probably not a good candidate for dog parks or day care at this time.
If you have another dog, we ask you have experience looking out for over stimulation in other dogs and can shut it down before it escalates to a fight.
She will chase cats, so we don't suggest them at this time.
Kalea is a sweetheart with people and is very smart!
She can be shy at first, but once she is comfortable, she loves to cuddle and play!
Her foster home has been working on crate training, house training, and basic obedience and she is catching on quickly :)
We'd suggest older kids only because she is still learning not to jump and she sometimes likes to nip when playing/excited (again, the herding dogs in her!).
Kalea's adoption fee is $300 and she will come fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped.
She is also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
If you are interested in meeting her, please submit an application through our website - /adoption-application
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kalea, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
