My story
Like a warm cuppa Joe!Hey guys! It's raining outside and all you need is Joe. I am a 3 year old, 55 lb, male Lab mix and I have been neutered already. I am smartie kid and fully bathroom and leash trained. I am also crate-trained, but dont enjoy being in there by myself and have torn up a bed or 2 out of boredom. However, I show zero destructive tendencies outside and have started sleeping out of the crate! I just have FOMO, what can I say! Also, when I go to my furever home, I'd appreciate some patience as I re-learn where to go to bathroom. I am muzzle trained and it's a very effective, non-aversive tool in my training and living a good life. Why you ask? Let's elaborate.I was brought to TAP in the beginning of the year after a series of unfortunate events including relinquishments, some sad rescue incidents, and finally ending up at TAP. Since I had major stranger danger issues, I went for training in TJ and then came back to TAP's behavioral director as her foster doggie. The muzzle helps me when I'm meeting new people, and when out in the public. It's truly allowing me to live my best and safest life. I have made some real progress with my training and in my foster home, and have been doing really well now. I think I'm ready to go home.Everyone lovingly calls me "Kangaroo-Joe" because of my energy and lovely jumps. I am guessing that I will LOVE athletic activities, sports and being outdoorsy! I may be in an adult body but my heart will furever be a puppy. Playing and chewing are my favorite! I am wary of strangers but have worked on desensitization and my muzzle keeps everyone safe. I do trust people now and have all the qualities to be a friend for life. Loyalty and goofiness are my top traits! I will be good with kids 10 years or older, who are sweet and respectful. I love dogs and would love to play all day long in parks or on play dates. In fact, I need to be in a home with a chilled-out, calm, older dog to mentor me and ease my separation anxiety.I would absolutely love to be a part of an active home where we can be sporty and adventurous together! I am comfortable in public and going on hikes and all, but I would appreciate my family advocating for my space and happiness by preventing unwanted pets, getting muzzled, and all that fun stuff. I need to be with a calm, good-natured dog sibling to help with my separation anxiety, and to guide me. I need a very strong leader who will be dedicated to giving clear direction. I am super loveable and affectionate, and if I am showered with constant love, my training will not be enforced. I am an excitable dog and will need continued obedience training (guidelines and a session with TAP's B &W Director will be included to help me thrive). I would go to a Foster to Adopt home, who will be willing to work with TAP team to ensure our success together. If you want to be the perfect creamer to my cuppa Joe, let's meet up! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
