JJ's story
JJ came to the shelter as a stray so very little is known about him. JJ appears to be a friendly older dog who enjoys the company of his canine neighbors and going on short sprints between the building and his outside kennel. JJ has tried hard to keep his kennel clean, indicating he may be housebroken. Despite being a slightly older dog, JJ still has plenty of get up and go and would prefer to go to a home that enjoys physical activity and long walks on the beach, as well one that can provide a soft and warm place to nap. As he is a mature gentleman, JJ''s new owner will need to make sure that he doesn''t overextend himself and should speak with their regular vet about maintaining joint health and making sure JJ is comfortable as he ages. Mutual visits with any other dogs in the home are always encouraged to ensure that JJ is a good fit; JJ may not have any cat/kid/small animal experience so introducing him to any of the littles should be done with caution. JJ is a sweet and goofy guy who can''t wait to find his forever home!
JJ had a difficult start recovering from his neuter surgery; his incision became infected and we had to put him on antibiotics to help him heal. JJ is improving quickly and our vet has cleared him for adoption, however his new owner will need to be extremely strict with keeping his cone on him so that he cannot lick his incision. If you have a strong enough will to resist the pleading for cone-freedom in JJ''s lovely brown eyes, you may be the right home for him.
