Jewelry Box Botanical Art on Black Opens to Reveal Mirror & Drawers - Vintage Asian Collectible.
This is a vintage 1970s style, no longer made, rare Asian jewelry box. It is most unusual in the way that it opens--lift the front panel up from the bottom and it reveals a swivel mirror at the top to aid you in putting on your jewelry, with a shelf and 4 drawers which hold your jewelry/trinkets/coins/mementos etc. It was supposed to look like a miniature dresser or highboy chest of drawers with a mirror above it. The box was a gift from the Orient way back in the 1970s and very popular at the time when there was a lot of gold metallic art being painted onto furniture, lamps, boxes, etc. This box is made of a black plastic material, has detailed botanical art on 3 sides and a base at the bottom. I am not certain how the metallic art was affixed to the box, but it is in good shape with no scratches or dings. These types of boxes, if you can even find them, sell for big money at vintage consignment shops, upscale thrift stores or at auction. Bottom of box is embossed with the words "Hong Kong". No cracks, breaks or chips. After lots of research, this box is fairly priced to sell, considering its vintage quality and rare opening style. Stored on a shelf in a cool, dry place. Comes from a smoke free/pet free home.
