Jesse's story
Jesse came to us because his owner went into hospice care. He is a very nervous and scared cat in the shelter and will need some time in his new home to become comfortable. In his previous home he did well with older, visiting, children (7yr- 11yr) and he has no experience around dogs or other cats. During his exam he was very nervous but tolerated all handling and even became slightly comfortable with some gentle talking and petting. He is VERY vocal when he is uncertain or travels in a kennel.
When getting to his new home, Jesse should start out in a single room with his food and litter box. Allowing him to start in his own room will let him adjust at his own pace. Introduce family members slowly, especially other animals in the home. Too much, too fast could be potentially overwhelming to him and could make for him stay uncomfortable. Please allow him 3-6 months for him to be comfortable with his new home.
