My story
You’ll go far with JR!Hey, there! My name is Jean Ralphio or just JR for short. I’m a handsome fella who loves hiking, rawhides, and of course, my hoomans. I’m an 11-month-old, 40-pound, Shepherd mix (maybe with some Kelpie, too!). Not only am I a super sweet boy, but I’m a distemper survivor. After being rescued from Tijuana, I overcame this deadly disease. Although I’ve made a full recovery, it left me with a slight tick that makes me nod my head a bit and twitch my leg. I don’t let it slow me down one bit! I’m happy, healthy, neutered, and ready to begin my second chance at life in my furever home!I’m a friendly pup who gets along well with other doggos. I can be a bit shy at first, but once I’ve sniffed out the situation, I like playing with my puppy friends! I will follow the lead of other dogs and I’m great at matching their energy. I haven’t formally met any cats, but seem curious about them on walks. What I love most of all is hoomans! I love all people, big and small. I adore burying my head in my person’s lap and just being by your side. I’m an affectionate boy who is so appreciative of his people!I’m a very go-with-the-flow guy, but I do love my exercise! I could easily go on a hike in the morning and again in the afternoon. My walk is more of a trot, so I’ll definitely help you earn your steps! When I’m not exploring, I like chewing on my hides and just laying by your side. I’m a total lovebug and an amazing companion.I’m a very polite pooch who never has accidents in the house. I also do well on the leash, but I might start chewing on it if I get tangled or bored! Even though I love walks, I get spooked by all things on wheels. I don’t love crossing the street and I’m not a fan of bikes, skateboards, etc… I do fine walking in more suburban areas, but would need more practice for that big city life. I have mild to moderate separation anxiety depending on the day. I’ll usually cry a little and then settle down, but sometimes I get a bit more stressed. I know I can overcome this with some gradual training. A calm doggy friend could also help me learn the ropes!Since I’m such an easy-goin’ guy, I’d fit in well with a variety of families! I get along with all people, kiddos too! Another active, well-trained (no separation anxiety) dog would make a great playmate. I would love to join a family that loves hiking and adventures as much as I do. I pawmise to repay you with all my love and loyalty! My adoption fee is $450 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
