My story

　　06/14/22 Jake was briefly adopted and then returned to the shelter because he was playfully chasing the cat in the home, and trying to go after the pocket pets as well. Jake has a TON of energy and was just too rambunctious for the dog in the home as well. We are requiring he go to a home with no pocket pets and recommend no cats and also introducing him to other dogs outside the home. He likes to jump on other dogs when playing and is a big boy, so he will need to be around very tolerant, playful dogs. However, he is said to respond well if another dog tells him no. Jake needs lots of obedience training as he is a large dog that jumps all over you and can easily put his front legs on your chest. He was said to learn well with persistent and repetitive training. Jake is kennel trained and will hold it for a long time, he also will keep his bedding intact and doesn't cause destruction when left alone for long periods of time. He is housebroken, rides well in a car, is outgoing, affectionate, playful, and friendly. He can be rough when playing and jumps all over people (out of love), so we are requiring he go to a home with no kids under 12 years old. Jake knows some basic commands like sit, come and no. He is also said to walk politely with a gentle leader. He does however get into the trash, chew on things and can jump a 4 foot fence if left to his own devices. Please, please take this rambunctious boy to training classes to set him up for success. If you are interested in Jake, then please give the shelter a call!06/08/22 Jake came to the shelter as a stray and he was wondering why no one came looking for him. He didn't spend too much time thinking about it and is now ready to find his new forever family! Jake is a wiggly, waggly, gangly dude looking for an active family that can take him on lots of walks, play dates, and basic obedience classes. He loves to play and may even like to learn how to play fetch! Jake is a larger dog who pulls on leash. He tends to bark at strangers, but is a nice boy. He tends to bolt out of the kennel door and may tend to bolt out of your front door as well, so please make sure this boy doesn't become a stray again. We do not know how he would do with babies or children, but he may be a little too rambunctious for the youngsters, so please make slow introductions. This guy has not been around cats, pocket pets or livestock to our knowledge, so please make cautious introductions. Jake seems to like his doggy neighbors, but tends to bark for attention.
