Jack's story
Where do we begin with Jack's story. It is heartbreaking and also heartwarming. Jack has made ENORMOUS strides since his rescue back in March of 2016. Volunteers spotted him months prior in the streets, day in and day out; in the area of our community service. After months of trying to lure him to safety, it became a 911 situation when Jack had obvious injuries, a leg that he could not put weight on and open wounds from an obvious multiple dog attack. IT was then when we contacted our friends at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and scheduled a date to safely tranquilize Jack. Once off of the streets and in our care, it took months for Jack to not be straddled in fear. We celebrated each achievement -- a treat out of our hands, a pet on the head, and eventually allowing us to put a leash on him. Once Jack was in a stable environment with a tight, safe routine, he slowly came out of his shell. Fast forward to today, Jack has had two major surgeries to repair two ACL tears (he has bionic legs!). It truly is impossible to explain Jack's time with us. We have documented his story on our Facebook page. He suffered horribly at the hands of his humans who simply did not want him and opened the front gate and never let him back in. We first spotted Jack at that front gate and he remained there until we were able to take him in to our kind hands. Jack is a special needs dog, he loves the company of others dogs, in fact, a companion is a must. He needs an incredibly patient person(s) who understands his past with compassion and understands what his future will be. Jack is not the type of companion that will cuddle on couch. However, he will sit close by, sleep by your feet and settle into a routine that keeps him secure.
