Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) - Lucy - Small

LUCY IS A COURTESY LISTING ONLY. AZJRR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT OR CONDUCT OF THIS DOG &/OR OWNER, OR RESULTING ADOPTION OF THIS PET. ALL INQUIRIES CONCERNING LUCY MUST BE MADE TO ALICIA AT [email removed] , OR .

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds or as we call her, Lucy is a 10 year old female Jack Russell Terrier. She is pure bred and AKC registered and I have her papers. She is also microchipped and I have those papers. I got Lucy at 9 weeks old here in Scottsdale and have loved her dearly ever since. She has been through 3 different training programs and is a very smart and affectionate little 11 lb. dog. Unfortunately, she isn't too fond of my new 4 and 1/2 month old son. She has never harmed him or anyone for that matter, but she displays the type of behavior toward him that she displays if she saw a rabbit or other prey. She doesn't understand him or what he is and I understand that is not her fault. Lucy is not an aggressive dog and is very kind and gentle with all people. She just doesn't know what babies are and therefore thinks they are prey. Unfortunately my husband and I are very nervous that one day something might happen with the baby and it's created tension in our home. After trying to make it work for 4.5 months, we have finally realized it just isn't possible. She isn't meant to be in a home with babies, cats or other female dogs.

Lucy is fully housebroken via doggy door. So I should say she is doggy door trained. She still has energy and is playful, but is past the age when Jack's are most energetic. She loves bones and treats and can sit, lay down, stay, knows the off command and a special trick...she can do the "Michael Jackson". Basically we offer her a treat and she hops backward like she is moonwalking. It's adorable and quite entertaining. She loves to go on walks, but isn't as big of a fan of car rides. She loves to snuggle and cuddle and if you will let her, she loves to sit with you on the couch or snuggle and burrow down under the covers of the bed. She also loves to swim! She will literally volley a lightweight, bouncy ball in the pool and just outside it for hours. She also loves table scraps and because she has been given them, she may sit on her back legs with her paws in the air and hope for something to hit the floor. She just wants to be a part of the family and right in the middle of what everyone is doing. She is quite social with strangers and all people.

Lucy is starved for attention and deserves to be in a home without children under 6 where she can be loved and cuddled and doted on. She doesn't deserve to be crated all the time and kept away from the family because we have to protect our baby and are in fear or something happening to him.

Lucy isn't great at dog parks. She has lived with a male Jack Russell and a male Wheaton Terrier and done well. She seems to always be alpha and will growl to protect her food or toys a bit. She would not do well with another female dog. She did attack my mom's male Maltese in our home, but we are sure it was because this small dog was confusing for her and because he was in her territory. Jack Russell Terriers are territorial and hunters by nature and they require time and attention and structure to thrive. I will say that she is easy for a Jack Russell, but someone should know Jacks or be a seasoned dog owner in my opinion to have a Jack.

Lucy is fully up-to-date on her shots and has recently had a full dental exam. Her vet is Saguaro Veterinary and they are happy to provide her records upon request. I would like her to go to a good home where she will be loved and cared for for the remainder of her life. Jacks live 18 to 20 years so she is only truly 1/2 way through her life and I don't want to see her go from home to home. She deserves only one more place to call home. She would do brilliantly in a home with land or a big back yard to play. She would not do well in a condo or apartment or mobile home as she is doggy door trained and needs
