  My story

  Jack of all trades!

Hey guys! My name is Jack and I am a 3 years old, male neutered Belgian Malinois mix, and a big boy at 97 lbs. I came to TAP after being relinquished by my not-so-forever family in LA and they said that I will have my amazing home soon. I have been in training since then. I am fully house and bathroom trained. I continue to work hard on  my leash reactivity towards and pulling and will need continued training till I am all good. Due to my reactivity, resource guarding and not being comfortable with certain touches, muzzles are a great idea for vet appointments and other tough situations. I have no problem with my muzzle and if it helps us all feel comfy and safe, why not! I haven't made a dog friend yet but I think I could after a slow enough introduction! So far, we know I prefer smaller females who are calm and gentle.

I am a fabulous exercise pawtner and learning to hike more than 5 miles right now. Physical and mental exercise keeps me happy and motivated. I love learning new tricks! So far I know sit, down, and shake!  Car rides are so fun and so are walks!  I am still in training mode and I would need patience as I learn to be the best boy. I have not met cats or kids yet, but I don't think cats are for me. I like hanging out with kids with supervision but would probably do best in an adult only home. Once settled in, I am amazingly sweet and incredibly loyal. Special dogs like me have a special way of loving and you will never feel alone.

I would be best with an active family who has experience handling big dogs with lots of love, patience and advocating for us. I will need help with my reactivity on leash, resource guarding and social training. It would be best if I am an only dog in an adults-only home so that I can safely work on finding my way in the world. I am currently taking Dasuquin (~$70.00 for 5 month supply) and Gabapentin (~$10.00 monthly cost depending on where purchased and market value) to support mu hip health and pain management. If you think you could be that amazing human for me, we should meet up! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application
