I am offering for sale a first generation IWC 18K yellow gold Beta 21 quartz. The case is large measuring 45mmx36mm excluding the crown. IWC was part of a consortium to research the world's first battery opperated watch. It is believed that there only 600 of these movements ended up in IWC watches and many were placed in other models like the DaVinci so this model is very rare, epsecially this one which has a solid gold case. The battery is powering a series of mechanical parts and uses a tuning fork to keep time. I have looked long and hard and could not find another one for sale. The watch comes with an IWC travel case and Extract from the Ledger stating the case and movement number along with the date of sale (June 19,1971). The watch was recently serviced by IWC in Switzerland and has most of its 2-year warranty remaining.
