I have done my time on a workbench fixing the problems people bring me and I have worked in many people's homes as well. I have taken many computer courses over the years to have the "certifications" but they do not amount to anything when dealing with your problems. My time spent talking to computer users, young and old, and, learning how computers work has been the best teachers to me. My methods for teaching and consulting are proven to work time and time again. I guarantee it. I know what I'm doing and I do not charge you for time to learn what I should already know. My charges will reflect what is needed to get to the end goal. (If I have to learn a specific piece of software or hardware to be able to properly advise you, you will know up-front before any job is agreed upon). I do not base everything on an hourly rate. Realistically, computer technicians do not receive compensation for all the time they have in a consulting or repair job. Even the most easily accomplished task can have obstacles that are unforeseen -- Slow system, missing files, missing user knowledge, and a thousand other possible variables that will add time to the repair and /or consult. True techs know that an hourly rate is not realistic to both the tech and the customer and they price the job based on their experience of what it will take to complete the job. The only way to know what my charges are is to call and talk with me about what you want to have done and I will give a price at that time. I attempt to do the all my jobs without data loss or destruction. I will do everything I can to preserve your data with the most cost effective procedures I know. I will teach you how to back up your important data and prevent future loss. BUT MOSTLY - I am honest. If I can help you with what you want to know or learn, I will tell you. If it is something that is not cost effective or I cannot do, I will tell you.
