This music box was purchased in downtown Montreal in 1974. It was given to a family member, who displayed it in a closed curio cabinet for many years. Within the last few years, it was packed and brought to our home, where it has been stored in a closet. The tassel is somewhat creased and twisted from being packed in storage. The music box has not been played often. It was usually wound up while knick knacks in the curio were being dusted. It was never used as a toy or hung by its cord.
The bell is constructed of metal, and it has a Hummel motif, with designs based on Apple Tree Girl, Apple Tree Boy, and Mischief Maker. It measures nearly 4.5 inches tall to the top of the silvertone metal hook. The diameter at the bottom is 3 inches. The cord is about 6.5 inches long with a 4 inch tassel at the end.
There are two labels on the bottom. One says Made in Italy. The other larger label is taped to the bottom and it is partially covering the Italy label. It says:
Reuge Swiss Musical Movement
"Tutte Le Mamme"
The Google translation of "Tutte Le Mamme" is "All Mothers." The windup key is marked REUGE.
There are a few places where the white paint is missing along the bottom edge of the bell. The music box is in working order.
