Hound - Spencer - Large - Adult - Male - Dog

　　Spencer is a handsome hound. A typical hound, he is focused on the sights and smells of the outdoors. If you have had no experience with hounds, it would be a good idea to do some breed research to learn more about the breed before adopting Spencer. Spencer is a friendly and lovable guy, but is wary of some people (especially men). Once he decides you are okay, he attaches pretty quickly. He appears more at ease with another dog around and would most likely enjoy having a dog buddy to live with. The companionship of another dog would help relieve some of the anxiety of being left alone. A secure yard is necessary to keep Spencer safe and not off following his nose. Spencer would do best in a calm but active home with children over 12 years. Being a hunting breed, he may want to chase a cat, but with proper introduction, might be able to live peaceably with one. Spencer needs the confidence gained from a Companion Dog class offered at SHS, which will help forge the bond he will need to do well with his new family. Spencer does tend to bay and bark and close quarters with other neighbors would not be suitable for him.
