My story
Tell me I’m a good boy, and I’ll love you forever! Why, hello there – my name is Holmes. I’m a three-year-old male Terrier mix, weighing in at 19 pounds. Not only am I neutered, but I’m crate-trained and potty-trained, too! I also do well on a leash – just keep in mind that I can walk really fast when I get excited about picking up a new scent.I arrived at TAP after being rescued from the roof of a five-story building in Tijuana, where I was just having a good ol’ time with my doggie friends. But despite having a ruff start to life, you would never know it. I always have a glass-half-full mentality and wear my heart on my sleeve … er, fur!My foster family says I’m just your everyday loveable dog – happy, goofy and extremely loyal. I’m a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. While I love lounging with you, putting my head in your lap, and getting belly rubs, I’m also very playful, too, and up for any kind of play session or adventure! Taking walks, going to the park, and playing tug-of-war with my toys are some of my favorite activities. But, whatever we do, I’m always in a great mood, and my tail is constantly wagging! My foster fam tells me that I’m great with commands, too, and that I seem very trainable. I understand “no,” “wait,” and am working on “sit.” We’ve also been practicing on being more independent, and I’ve been able to improve upon my now-mild separation anxiety really quickly. Every now and then, I revert back to what I had to do while living on the streets (such as, barking when new people come to the house), but I’ve quickly learned that no imminent danger lurks around the corner and am able to relax. My perfect home would be with an active family because I have lots of energy! (One of my favorite tricks is to run from one side of a room to the other). Also, I’d prefer to have lots of company and head scratches, too. I really enjoy being around other animals – I especially loved playing with my foster family’s chickens – and I would probably do okay with children, as long as I had some time to warm up to them and feel comfortable. So, if you’d like to solve the mystery of finding the perfect dog, pick me! My adoption fee is $450 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
