The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less than ideal conditions so will need to be house and leash trained. Most have never lived in house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion.
Hi! My name is Hattie and I am a very scared Maltese girl who is 9 years old and I weigh 10 pounds. I was adopted & in a home for almost a year, but was returned to BRAS, because I continued to stay fearful and my Mom didn't know what else to do to get me to trust her. I am looking for a home where someone will be committed, and not have any expectations for me. I am a mellow, quiet, senior girl who needs a stay at home parent with no children & who has experience with very fearful dogs. I know I will learn how to love with lots of patience & attention, and I will be your best friend. I don't have any teeth & do have some staining around my mouth area, but we will be working on keeping that area clean by wiping with damp washcloth daily, after I eat. I am already following around my foster mom and enjoying the attention and petting. If you have the perfect home for me, please ask for me on your application.
