  My story

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON BELOW FORM INFORMATION ABOUT HAPPY.

Happy is a charming 3 year old, 45 pound possibly Shepherd mix who was found by a kind family. ***Happy is in boarding until he can find his forever home or a foster home***

He has already been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations and does not have heartworms so he is ready to come home with you!

His foster family named him Happy since he truly is always happy!

Happy is great with strangers, wanting attention but not jumping up on them. He has been fine with younger teenagers but has not been tested with small children.

Happy is a very sweet and snuggly guy who loves to cuddle with you, especially in the people bed if you allow him to sleep there.

He loves to play with toys.

He is super gentle when taking treats and walks nicely on a leash with only the occasional pull (if he sees squirrels). He enjoys going for walks but does get hot easily so will not want to take long walks on hot summer days.

Happy seems to be house trained already and his foster family has been keeping him on a potty schedule so he knows how long he has to hold it and understands their routine. He will need to be kept on a predictable schedule at first in his new home so he will understand your routine.

He also enjoys a predictable meal time and loves feeding time as well as treats.

He is very dog friendly and would probably enjoy having a doggie friend in his new home. However, he IS food protective around other dogs (not people according to foster mom) so definitely must be fed separately if there are several dogs in the house and taught to be respectful.

Happy does love the company of people and dogs and had separation anxiety in a trial home (as an only dog) when left alone, especially if isolated in a crate, which he would try to break out of.

His foster home never saw any of that anxious behavior (foster home had plenty of dog company) so we think he might need a doggie sibling to keep him company (just feed separately please). His new family will need to be familiar with separation anxiety and do gentle/calm training to reduce that.

He has not been cat tested.

His foster family is teaching him more skills such as crate training, sitting(would not sit for anything at first and now he has got it down! He just cannot stay seated too long due to his excitement!), stay, and down (both currently a work in progress).

His foster family thinks he is simply adorable, cuteness overload! He makes a super cute squeaky noise when he yawns and has very soft fur. He has wonderfully oversized and expressive ears.

Please contact his foster mom for further information and to set up a meet and greet with an approved application.

$100 adoption donation (to help fund LPPNC).
