Hansi's story
**Hansi is currently being fostered in Houston, TX. Which means, unfortunately, meeting her in person prior to the adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $500USD, which covers her flight and she is fully vetted. Because vet care and flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**
This beautiful girl came into rescue after her family who she had lived with her entire life found themselves in a situation where they were no longer able to give her proper care. Her rescuers promised to find her the best forever home to live out her golden years.
Hansi is a roughly 7-year old Basset/Beagle Mix. She is 40 pounds, and a lower energy gal. She would do great in an apartment or condo setting, as long as her family is committed to getting her proper daily exercise. She loves people, but can take a few minutes to warm up to them. This is not uncommon with dogs who have lived with their families for their entire lives who are then surrendered. She warms up fastest when there are yummy treats involved!
Hansi is currently living in the boarding/day care facility that she was surrendered to. She has done very well adjusting to a much more chaotic environment that her former home. She interacts with dogs, but can tend to overcorrect dogs who are not polite with her personal space. She would be great as a plus one to a calmer older dog or as a bachelorette.
She has met and done well with children, but we would advocate that she not be placed in a family with young children just because all of this is a big transition for her and we want everyone to acclimate well and have a great life together.
Hansi is kennel and house trained, but of course Hansis ideal family will understand that she will take time and patience as she acclimates into her new life. She may have accidents, chew on things she is not supposed to, and bark in her kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so she is seeking a family that can give her this time and work with her on becoming an even more awesome dog than she already is.
Hansi should be adopted by a family who plans to keep her indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).
Hansi is fully vetted (spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative and on prevention) and has no health or allergy issues that we are currently aware of.
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application via our website which you can access via the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/
