Teak is an all around premier species of many favorable properties and will remain as one of the most admired and precious trees. It is indigenous to only four countries, India, Myanmar, Thailand and Lao PDR.

　　It is indigenous to only those four countries, and dense natural forests with big and beautiful admiralty quality teak have degraded and shrunk so rapidly that at present they are confined only to Myanmar and to some extent to India. Natural teak has now almost become very limited.

　　This piece was brought back the the US by Major Richard Green Bigford.
