Halo - Needs Foster's story
Meet Halo, is he a striking dog or what? Wow what a smile! You just know that he loves life and that he is a happy guy. YET he was found as a stray, and no one came to claim him. And worse yet, no one went to the shelter to adopt him. Halo is 2yrs old so we gave him a birthday of (11/26/2015) and he is currently 60 pounds. The photographer said that Halo is curious, happy, and focused. He will love learning new things and going on adventures with his new forever family. They are guessing his breed to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab mix. Halo is REALLY blooming and turning into a wonderful fellow. He knows his name and a few basic commends "sit" and sometimes "stay",but not "shake" yet. He's a great traveler and companion, he's friendly towards other people, and he's made a few doggy friends and enjoys playing with them. He''s active and affectionate and he'll be great with a family with kids or other dogs...just no cats. He still has a lot of puppy and everything in the whole world is a chew toy. Fortunately, not furniture -- his specialty is pillows and stuffed animals. I've gotten him tons of stuffed animals and a few kongs (kongs not his fav BUT the stuffed ones OMG they are FAVs +++). He'll definitely need some training on that score and also about standing still while putting on a leash, but considering what shape he was in at first when he arrived.... he's made terrific progress! . Put in your application today for this smiling guy!
Halo is heartworm positive BUT don't let that stop you from being interested in this boy as your forever dog. EAPL will cover all the vet care for his heartworm treatment. You just need to provide the TLC for just 60 +/- days and then he will be on his way to being a normal Colorado active dog! Once the heartworms are cleared then he is good to go. Put in an application and one of our volunteers can talk to you about heartworm and the process.
