My story
Gus the Great!Hi, pals! My name is Gus. I’m a good boy who is equal parts snuggly & playful. I’m a 6-month-old, 30-pound, Great Dane mix. I recently came into The Animal Pad’s care from Kern County. I was going to be put down because I had a broken back leg. I was rescued just in time! My back leg is healing and I’m on some pain meds until I’m all better. I’m not neutered yet, but I’ll get that on my calendar soon. I’m so happy with my new life and can’t wait to find a furever family to share it with!I’m a friendly fella who adores dogs of all sizes. I do a great job matching other pups’ energy and listening to directions. I also love people and always wag my tails when kids pet me! Since I’m still a bit of a kid myself, I’m learning not to play-bite, or jump. For this reason, it’s probably best that I’m only in a home with older kiddos. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure if we’d be buds. When I’m not playing with my pals, I love my stuffed animals, chasing the ball, going to the beach, and saying hello to everyone I meet!Even though I’m a playful guy, I’m great at mellowing out at home. I’m a total cuddle bug and love snuggling up on the couch. I will happily snooze by your feet while you work. I’m the ultimate pawsonal assistant.I’m working on my Puppy 101 training and making great strides. I don’t go to the bathroom in the house, which makes the hoomans happy! I still have some puppy behaviors like chewing on things and getting mouthy when I’m excited. However, I’m easily redirected and I’ve been making great progress. I love going on walks and I’m working on not pulling or barking on the leash. I have some separation anxiety and will bark for 10 or so minutes when you leave. I’m slowly but surely getting comfortable in my crate. Like any puppy, I need training so that I can be the very best boy!At the end of the day, I’m just a guy who loves to be loved! I’d do well in an active household that can commit to continuing my training. I think I would do well with another dog who could show me the ropes! There’s no “Gus”sing that I’m the good boy for you! My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/##1325556##
